Below is a briefing paper on a results from a randomized trial of a new sales offer for improved cookstoves. By combining a free trial with rent-to-own we increased stove uptake from 5% to 44%. New Sales Offers for Improved Cookstoves

David Levine: Improved Sales Offers for Improved Cookstoves

David Levine, Eugene E. and Catherine M. Trefethen Professor at the Haas School of Business of University of California, Berkeley presented at the first discussion of the Financial Incentives and Health series. The seminar focused on the roll of financial incentives in increasing diffusion and utilization of technologies, such as improved cookstoves, in the developing world.
